How to Succeed at Climbing Without Really Trying
We realize that much of the advice we give over here at RigSend requires a little too much work. We are truly sorry about that and trying desperately to fix it, but until then, follow these tips for some excellent, effort free, rig sending.
It is all about the hangdog- As Outkast said, “it is not what you make, but how much you spent.” No one really cares what you send. However, if you appear to be working something really dura, you can easily earn the admiration of yoga pants the world over. That is why it is crucial to pick a project at least a whole number grade over your current best, relentlessly hangdog it, and make sure that everyone knows about it. If a climber hangdogs and no one is around to hear the spray, it might as well have not happened. Just let everyone know how close you are, and if anyone actually sees how incredibly far away you are from even doing all the moves, just tell em you are still piecing it together.
Tight Shoes – Chances are your shoes could be tighter. If you aren’t taking prescription pain meds because of chronic foot pain, I would question your dedication. Lots of climbers have shoes that force their toes to curl down, but not many are serious enough to have shoes so tight that their toes curl all the way back under their foot. Also, get some Solutions. Seriously, anything else is for trad dads.
Post on Reddit – Really rad guys like Sean McColl and Andrew Bishrat post on reddit and even attribute high karma scores to their success on the wall. It follows naturally that the more you post, the better you will be, or at least appear to be. Remember that the best way to appear knowledgeable is to pontificate about your favorite personal anchor system and why every other option will kill you dead. Also, posts about indoor climbing tend to do really well, which makes sense because indoor climbing gets you super strong. Also, cat bouldering.
Hopefully these tips will make you appear to climb harder at the very least. Make sure to send some of that sponsorship dough my way.
